Hello Wednesday my old friend

Before I even get to the office, I’m on the phone to our costume designer. Busy executive type, me.

What really strikes me is that I can’t walk up the (pathetically small) incline to our office, and talk on the phone at the same time, without feeling a bit out of breath. Fitting that I’ve got my gym kit with me.

First thing after I get my breath back: Spaff’s nearly finished on our Secret Little Video Project, and wants me to do a dialogue polish on what he’s written. Between the two of us we add about 20% more gags. That’s science, Bobby! Continue reading

Tuesday; it’s the new Monday

Haven’t done one of these for a while, and I’ve got 20 minutes, so let’s see if it’ll fit in that time:

Start the day trying to clear out the Inbox. I generally do my very best to keep my email as light as possible, but it’s stacked up a bit by my standards… 50+ in the Inbox. To most people that really is nothing – most people have hundreds, if not thousands.

In the process, fire off a few emails to people trying to confirm and cajole. Trade emails back and forth with Andrew Wildman about the upcoming UK Games Expo, and also about a Secret Prize Project he’s helping us with, which should be revealed fairly shortly.

With the Bank Holiday yesterday, all of the usual Monday meetings are bumped forward by a day, so we do our weekly ‘Management Operations’ meeting at 11:15am. It’s pretty much business as usual; all of the company managers in a room going through what’s going on right now. I talk mostly about UKGE, the trip to Staffordshire University next week, and casting. Continue reading

So today was… kind of busy.

Fast, slow, fast. In that order.

  • In early because I wanted to get some stuff done, knowing that I had to leave at 11:30 or so.
  • I’m on the phone with Omega Sektor as I’m making toast and coffee, checking on Hero Pass sales. They’re still brisk, but both of us are getting confused by the passes we have on reserve – some for Omega Sektor regulars, some for our incoming European players.* We decide we have a few passes left.
  • Welcome back Spaff, who’s been ill for the last couple of days. He starts to move his desk, which we’ve been waiting to do for several weeks. He’s only in for today though. With him at my back – literally – we start to feel like more of a cohesive team again.
  • Do a last minute rehearsal of my presentation for Spaff, who approves. It’s 12 minutes long, with 70 slides.
  • Leave the office and take the bus up to the Sussex University campus to do said presentation for an audience of (mostly) second years. It goes well, but I’ll post about that separately.
  • Back on the bus, experience a moment’s panic when I’m sure we’re heading towards the… Continue reading

How did it get to be 6pm already?

One of those days.

  • Spent the morning tweaking and adding photos, photos and then more photos to a presentation I have to give at Sussex University on Wednesday. Didn’t finish. Finding the right image takes too bloody long sometimes.
  • In the middle of that, get the image I mentioned earlier. Jaw literally drops and hangs open for about five seconds. Stunning….
  • Lunch with Jen where we both vent about different things… and talk about this blog, as it happens.
  • Back to finalise and post details about the ‘Hero Pass’ for the MiniCon, then I duck into a meeting about said MiniCon. As the words come out of my mouth I keep thinking “So much to do, so much to do, so much to do….”
  • Get back to my desk to find Forumites frothing about not being able to get ahold of Hero Passes, as the phone at Omega Sektor is ringing off the hook. Try to calm them down.
  • And suddenly, it’s 6pm.

“Day ain’t over yet….”
